In the midst of grief, family turmoil, and a young boy’s confusion, I learned a lesson that has shaped my life ever since: never miss the chance to show up for the people you love. A simple visit with my Dad and Grandpa on New Year’s Eve 1974 became a turning point—one filled with laughter, tears, and healing.
